Nestled beneath Orcas Island, Sucia and the Outer Islands are some of our favorite in the San Juans. This trip is perfect for an adventurous paddler looking for the perfect balance of exploration and relaxation.

The trip starts by taking a small county run ferry to Lummi Island, where you’ll gear up and Moondance private launch location. After getting acquainted with gear and boats, we’ll set out for our first stop of the day, Clark Island. During lunch, we’ll take in the views of Mt. Baker while getting fueled for the rest of our journey. After a full day of paddling, and covering almost 10 miles, we’ll arrive at Sucia, our campsite for the next few days.

For the following days, we’ll circumnavigate the island, exploring all the nooks and crannies, and secret coves. We can head out to Matia Island, to take a walk around in the old growth forest, or we can decide to go north to Patos to check out the lighthouse and lay in the grassy bluffs. You’ll fall asleep at night listening to the distant roars of the Stellar Sea Lions who may visit us while we’re on the water.

In the final days, we’ll head back to Clark Island, and eventually to Lummi, where we’ll pack up our gear, say our goodbyes and give the arms a rest until the next adventure.

Contact us for availabilities.

Wen can also offer a Sucia / Outer Islands trip from Orcas Island if less paddling is desired. Prices vary.
